Today's reflection was from yesterday networking session: Managing Transition.
Big word? No. We are all constantly going through this more often than we realised.
Transition, or Change, simply put, is ending of something old, and something new begins.
so, it is supposed to be simple. but y then are human always resisting changes and y are some change so difficult?
Lim Peng Soon, the speaker, asked us to share our experiences and we gather that it is because we have feeling attached to certain things that we kept hanging on to the old things; and in some examples, if there's a change, we faced losses. Hence, to help us to pass through from ending to a new beginning, we need to Manage Transitions.
LPS was speaking in terms of organisation change - changing of corporate structure, changing of leadership, changing of department objectives and roles, we need to manage transitions. But i am thinking in terms of personal change, personal transitions.
how do one pass from one relationship into a neutral zone, and finally into a new beginning of a new chapter of life? what abt the lost of a love one? there are ppl who nv made it thru the phase to the neutral zone, let alone a new beginning.
and the lost of our comfort zone, stability and good remuneration when took risk to switch to a new job? we always thot the previous job was better than our current one. the past is always better than present, somehow.
LPS shared that we need to focus on the gain that we will get, then work towards tht. nothing's gonna change abt tht empty seat at the dinner table or a relationship tht nv is gonna work out. Focus on wat we wan to do, then move thru the low period. so, identify ur own denial and resistant. or the next time u meet with someone going thru the transition, help them to see that the new beginning is waiting.
focus on the bright lights, my friends :)
